With its release of Arziro Design 2.0 and several new software additions, Agfa Graphics now offers a complete, end-to-end workflow for general security printing. This ecosystem consists of security design software, additional design modules and an authentication solution. Arziro Design enables the creation of unique, complex and hard-to-copy designs that discourage forgers from attacking a brand. It runs as a plug-in for Adobe Illustrator on Mac and PC, allowing optimal creativity in a known working environment. The 2.0 version now offers extra features such as live variable line widths and additional guilloches, as well as new functions such as Smart Selection, which helps designers to select subsets of complex elements automatically.
“Moreover, we now have a Plus version as well,” said Andy Grant, Global Head of Software at Agfa Graphics. “It’s specifically designed for government entities, security printers and security designers, and offers exclusive features for even better protection against brand counterfeiting.” The optional Arziro Anti-Copy module produces custom-made, copy-proof patterns that expose counterfeits and thus adds more security to the design of documents. “Arziro Anti-Copy lets you add a small, security design element to the layout of your counterfeit-sensitive documents,” Grant added. “If anyone attempts to forge these papers, that security element gives them away through an image or word that appears after copying.”

As a unique anti-forgery solution that also integrates with Arziro Design (Plus), Arziro Authenticate produces secure, copy-proof QR+ codes that can be printed directly on a counterfeit-sensitive printed item. The Arziro QR+ code connects a passive product or print to the internet – and with a simple scan with a smartphone allows users to easily verify the authenticity of an item. “We offer dedicated apps for both consumers and professionals or authorities,” said Grant. “With every scan, Arziro Authenticate gives valuable information about the authenticity of the printed item and at the same time collects data to offer brand owners valuable market insights.”
Arziro Production – a prepress workflow solution specifically developed for the general security printing market – completes the entire Arziro security circle. It enables security printers to work with complex documents, create reliable soft proofs, and generates security design output. To accomplish this, it decrypts authentication and secure elements such as those created by the Arziro Design software.
