Roland DGA (Irvine, California) has unveiled its new VersaStudio BN-20A Desktop Printer/Cutter. Based on the company’s best-selling VersaStudio BN-20, the new BN-20A offers many of the same popular features, but at a lower price, said the OEM. By removing the recirculating specialty colour channel for white and metallic inks, Roland DGA was able to offer this lower-cost model. With its combined functionality, reliability and affordability, the BN-20A is ideal for anyone looking to start a home-based business, or for existing shops that want to expand by adding print-and-cut applications.
Its imaging and integrated contour-cutting capabilities make it ideal for a wide range of applications – including signs, posters, decals, labels, customized apparel and more. With its ability to produce vibrant graphics and automatically cut around virtually any shape, the BN-20A enables a printer to stand out from the competition without making a large initial investment. The printer/cutter comes standard with intuitive output software “that even beginners can use” to easily produce high quality prints such as illustrations and photos. It’s also compact enough to be placed on a desk and can be used safely in any home, office or retail location without special electrical requirements.
The BN-20A takes full advantage of Roland DG’s Greenguard Gold certified Eco-Sol MAX 2 inks in a standard CMYK configuration. These specially formulated inks dry quickly and provide “rugged scratch resistance” on a wide range of readily available 20” media – including poster paper, thermal transfers, PVC sheets and PET films. The BN-20A also incorporates True Rich Color preset for vivid, accurate graphics and outstanding details. Variable-dot control produces ink droplets of 7 different sizes for superior image quality, while Roland Intelligent Pass Control ensures accurate dot placement between passes for “excellent photographic reproduction, smooth gradations, and exceptional solid colours.”
The BN-20A also offers reliable, precise integrated contour cutting. Its ability to print and cut in a single operation makes it ideal for applications such as wall graphics and apparel decoration. The BN-20A also enables users to print, remove the print for lamination, and then return that laminated output to the printer for precision contour cutting using Roland DG’s Quadralign Optical Registration System.
