The 40th Annual Gutenberg Gala, Québec’s premier event for the printing industry in the province, took place Thursday evening, May 26, 2022, at Bonsecours Market in Montreal, one of Canada’s finest heritage buildings. Hundreds of the best companies in the graphic arts attended their first in-person industry event since the beginning of the pandemic. It was a wonderful, upbeat atmosphere highlighted by a Cocktail Party and the presentation of the prestigious Gutenberg Trophies to over a dozen deserving companies in several key categories. These included digital printing, publishing, packaging, labels, display, self-promotion, custom marketing, finishing, binding and many more. As always, the event showcased the enormous talent, creativity and expertise of the province’s print professionals.
”This evening highlights exceptional pieces made over the past year and yes, it’s a competition because there’s a jury,” said Éric Lamontagne, President of Gutenberg 2022. “But the Gutenberg Gala is much more than that. It’s been our industry’s annual event for 40 years. It’s an evening where we can meet suppliers, colleagues and also competitors. It’s also the place where you can discuss, compare your realities with those of others, check the state of the market, and see what’s being done elsewhere. It’s not about how many nominations or how many awards you win. The important thing is to be present and to participate, to be part of this industry, and to make yourself known. The Committee worked very hard to prepare this 40th Gutenberg Gala, and had the privilege of obtaining the support of many partners, including ICP Canada, our partner Diamant, and also Canon, Konica Minolta, Komcan Komori, Ricoh and Rolland, as well as many other industry partners.
