Three BCIT students earn Canadian Print Scholarships

Canadian Print Scholarships announces BC In Memoriam Scholarship Recipients

Canadian Print Scholarships (Toronto) has announced that Canadian Printing Industries Scholarships have been awarded to students in the Graphic Communications Technology Management Program at BCIT – the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby. The scholarships were named in memory of British Columbia printing industry leaders. The mission of the Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund is to attract the brightest and best students available to the printing and graphic communications industry by providing financial assistance to enroll and continue in a post-secondary management or technical program at an approved educational institution in Canada.

Rachel Cheung was awarded the Gary Baines In Memoriam Scholarship. Gary was the Executive Director of the BCPIA from 1989 to 1995 and was the inspiration for the establishment of the organization’s student scholarships. His legacy of a sustained commitment to ongoing education initiatives has been an inspiration to many. Tanner Hockey was awarded the John Kouwenhoven In Memoriam Scholarship. John was a founding partner of Hemlock Printers and a strong advocate for regional training in the print industry. He served at length on the BCPIA board and was known for his commitment to helping individuals achieve their personal best. Madison Mills was awarded the Peter Purcell In Memoriam Scholarship. Peter established Inter-City Papers in Vancouver in 1984 and had a career in print that spanned 40 years, including an extended role as a Market Development Specialist. He’s recognized as a dedicated leader, committed family man, inveterate golfer, and an ultimate salesman.
