Webcom Incoroporated, a Toronto-based book manufacturer, has become one of the few major printers in Canada to install an HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press. The new HP Indigo 10000 builds on Webcom’s commitment to provide publishers with leading-edge print solutions, said the company. “Having witnessed an emerging demand from publishers for ultra-short runs, including book-of-one, investing in this game-changing, 29-inch digital press was a logical step,” said Mike Collinge, Webcom’s President & CEO. “The HP Indigo 10000 has opened new possibilities for publishers to cost-effectively print short runs of any size – including large-format educational supplements, financial publications, specialty trade books and landscape books. Publishers gain the flexibility they need to make smart print-run decisions and maximize their market opportunities with fast turnarounds,” he added.
The HP Indigo ElectroInk technology and unique digital offset process deliver print quality that is interchangeable with offset for any application requiring vivid and intense colour reproduction. The HP Indigo 10000 supports a wide range of paper grades, from 45 lb. text to 150 lb. cover – including coated, uncoated, recycled and specialty papers. The new digital press is also compatible with popular coatings applications.
Key benefits include a 29-inch format that enables highly efficient imposition of jobs and lowers the cost per copy, thereby closing the gap between digital and offset break-even points. It also has an inline quality automation vision system for precise registration, and has been designed with environmental sustainability in mind via several energy-efficient features.
Webcom is a leading Canadian book manufacturer servicing Canadian, U.S. and global publishers for over 40 years. With a long history of technological innovation, the company offers creative print and supply chain solutions to address the challenges faced by publishers. The recent installation expands Webcom’s world-class digital technologies and automated workflows that have made it a choice of leading publishers worldwide.
