Holland & Crosby acquires Colormark

h&ccolormark-inHolland & Crosby Limited (Mississauga, Ontario) has acquired the assets of Canadian screen-printing leader Colormark Limited, also located in Mississauga. The transaction was completed on January 1, 2016 and production began last Monday, January 4. An award-winning, family-run business of over 40 years, Colormark felt the time was right to transition, and reached out to firms in the area about becoming part of a larger company, either through merger or acquisition.

Scott Crosby.

“We were attracted to the opportunity because of Colormark’s longstanding history of excellence and service, its legacy of being environmentally responsible long before it was common, and its talented people,” said Scott Crosby, Holland & Crosby’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “We felt the combination was a great fit for Holland & Crosby.” Both companies will be co-located at a new site that will house “a serious investment in new equipment” close to both original facilities. The new building is 70,000 sq. ft. with ideal functionality for printing and plant workflows. “We’re really excited to get into our new space and produce projects even more efficiently,” Crosby added.
The company’s new technology purchases included two Inca Onset presses from Fujifilm – the X1 with a special orange ink configuration, and the X3 with three banks of CMYK and a 5’ x1 0’ vacuum bed and output of over 9,000 square feet per hour. It’s the first press of its kind to be installed in North America, and only the second worldwide.
Holland & Crosby has also made significant changes to its cutting solutions, replacing existing cutting tables with two new Kongsberg C Series 10’ x 10’ tables from Esko that are expected run 2.5 times faster. With these investments, the company predicts up to a 50% improvement in throughput. The company has also transitioned Colormark’s existing work to this new equipment. Holland & Crosby is looking forward to hosting an open house in May to demonstrate the new equipment and highlight the updated facility.
Founded in 1932, Holland & Crosby specializes in the design, manufacture and distribution of P.O.P. signage and displays to the retail marketplace across North America. It provides a complete range of services, from creative and structural design to storage and distribution – including digital, screen and litho print production as well as prototyping and finishing.
Colormark Limited has a 40-year-history of screen-printing excellence. It’s one of the only screen printing companies in North America to research, develop and manufacture its own line of high-quality, eco-friendly UV screen inks in-house.
