The survey also found that more than 77% of Canadians wanted sustainable packaging for food products, and nearly half (46%) are willing to pay more for earth-friendly/deforestation-free/sustainable paper products – or products in such packaging.
On February 5, 2013, APP launched its groundbreaking sustainability initiative Forest Conservation Program (FCP), the most significant part of which was the immediate end to all natural forest clearance throughout its entire supply chain with the eventual goal of zero deforestation. APP’s Forest Conservation Program includes the following strategies:
- Forest clearance moratorium
- Protection of peatland
- Implementation of FPIC and social principles
- Sustainable sourcing across the entire supply chain
- Transparency and independent monitoring
- Restoration commitment of 1 million hectares
