Graphic Arts Media

A callout to some key industry organizations

…and the events and educational opportunities they provide
As we’ve always done in the past, Graphic Arts will continue to support industry organizations that keep you up to date with the latest technology, organize helpful events, promote networking, and help the future generation of print professionals. We encourage you to visit the websites of the OPIA (Ontario Printing & Imaging Association), DIA (Digital Imaging Association), CPISTF (Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund), intelliFLEX Innovation Alliance, and others.
This month, however, I’d like to congratulate one organization that’s flown under the radar, so to speak – namely PAC Packaging Consortium and its president and CEO James Downham. He and his hard-working team have been staging some wonderful events recently for their members, including tours of the some of Canada’s top packaging facilities. Last month, it also released a 32-page printed publication called Connect 2018, that featured some fascinating articles on packaging design, environmental concerns, intelligent packaging and much more. The 2,400-member, not-for-profit organization also has an ongoing certification program and networking opportunities through its competitions, educational activities, and other special events. Believe it or not, it’s been a catalyst for the packaging industry for over 65 years. To learn more about its programs, events and member benefits, please visit pac.ca.
I’m equally delighted that our premier 2018 Wide-Format Inkjet Guide, with a planned distribution date of June, has attracted some major OEMs. Our goal is to create a special-interest publication with a long shelf life to increase knowledge of inkjet technology and its potential for commercial, textile, wide-format and other printers. If you’re interested in advertising or sponsorships, please call me at 1-877-513-3999. If you have ideas for editorial content, please call Filomena Tamburri, our editor in chief.
Finally, our online Graphic Arts Career Centre (jobs.graphicartsmag.com) is now up and running. If you’re seeking employment in the industry or looking for skilled staff, this is the place to post – with 79,000 monthly visits. All posts remain on our website for 60 days and are included in our weekly e-newsletter and our Twitter feed. The cost is only $99 plus HST per listing per category – and the posting and payment procedures are fast and simple.
As always, stay positive and stay focused.
