As you’re reading this, there’s likely a couple of days before our federal election. Regardless of whom you’re voting for, please do get out and cast your ballot. It’s a privilege that, sadly, not all people on our planet enjoy. You should also check Elliot Schiller’s article on page 39. He’ll tell you what to expect for your printing business, depending on who wins the election. At press time, the biggest trade deal in the world (The Trans-Pacific Partnership) has been signed and we don’t yet know how this will affect the printing industry in Canada. But rest assured we’ll certainly follow up.
Fall traditionally means tradeshows in our industry. Well, we’re happy to report that Graph Expo 2015 last month was a great success for both visitors and exhibitors – and especially for Canadian exhibitors. We were kept quite busy at booth 4443 and I’d like to thank all those who stopped by to say hello. We’ve got a photo wrap-up for you on page 14.
We’re also very excited about our Second Annual Print Community Conference and Tradeshow that will be held Thursday and Friday, November 19 and 20, at the Paradise Banquet and Convention Centre in Vaughan, Ontario. We’ve got a great line-up of experienced and approachable keynote speakers who sincerely want to help you grow your business. There are several pages in this issue that include more details about our tradeshow. You can also visit www.printcommunity.com and watch for updates in our weekly e-newsletters, and on our website (www.graphicartsmag.com). The number to call for tickets is (905) 473-9111. For booth space you can call 1-877-513-3999. Speaking of tradeshows, the Consac National Sign & Graphics Tradeshow late last month at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario was also well attended.
This issue has several fascinating features, starting with Christopher Smyth’s comprehensive look at innovations in magazine technology. You might also want to check out Peter Dulis’ feature on the Canon Expo 2015 World Showcase.
As always, stay positive and stay focused.
