Accu-Decal (Philadelphia, PA) has become the first decal printing location in North America to install the new Jeti Mira Flatbed Digital Printing System from Agfa Graphics. The Jeti Mira is a six-colour-plus-white UV-inkjet printer with a dockable roll-to-roll option that enables printing on a wide variety of flexible media. The system’s overall flexibility and versatility was specifically what attracted the full service, family-owned digital and custom screen-printing company to the technology. Accu-Decal produces everything from decals and signage to intricate point-of-purchase displays – and has been in business for over 30 years.
“The current economy is challenging for business,” said Christine Simmons, Art Director and co-owner of Accu-Decal Inc. “We found ourselves at a crossroads and took a leap of faith. We decided to upgrade our digital press to the Jeti Mira and as a result, the door opened up to more business and new types of work. The Jeti Mira allows us to print at high resolution on various substrates at a much faster rate than before. This gives us the opportunity to produce more work for our existing clients. As a bonus, we’re also saving on ink and labour costs.”
The Jeti Mira features a moving gantry for precision printing. For increased productivity, its ‘Print & Prepare’ technology allows operators to load one side of the table while the other side is printing. The system is available with a table depth of either 63 inches or 126 inches against a width of 105 inches, accommodating a variety of both rigid and flexible substrates. “We designed the Jeti Mira flatbed to produce stunning detail with razor-sharp text and topped it with versatility,” said Deborah Hutcheson, Director of Marketing, Agfa Graphics North America. “The optional dockable RTR system is field upgradeable. Primer or varnish is another option. The Jeti Mira features highly advanced ‘thin ink layer’ pigment dispersion technology that keeps ink costs down and provides stunning-looking prints. Our inks also deliver the lowest consumption costs per square metre in the industry,” she added.
Agfa Graphics Canada is located in Mississauga, Ontario.
