British Columbia’s Catalyst Paper appoints two senior executives to key positions

Catalyst Paper (Richmond, BC) recently announced two senior executive appointments. Edward (Ned) Dwyer is appointed Chief Operating Officer and will oversee the company’s five manufacturing operations in Canada and the United States. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the pulp and paper sector to his new role, and has a strong track record for successfully leading operational and performance improvements. Dwyer holds a Bachelor of Science (Paper Science and Engineering) from the State University of New York and Syracuse University. Om Bhatia has been appointed Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. He has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services sector and previously held a progression of senior positions in the pulp and paper industry. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Notre Dame University, a Master of Science from Miami University (Ohio), as well as engineering and science degrees.

With five mills across North America and a distribution facility in strategic proximity to Canada’s Pacific coast, Catalyst has a combined annual production capacity of 2.3 million tonnes. The company has also earned a reputation for environmental stewardship based on its commitment to certified fibre sourcing, manufacturing efficiency and verified chain of custody. It also offers carbon-neutral specialty paper products on a selective basis to customers who value that distinction. These efforts are guided in part by the company’s ongoing work with various environmental groups, including the World Wildlife Fund. It currently has manufacturing facilities in Crofton, Port Alberni and Powell River, British Columbia, as well as in Rumford, Maine and Biron, Wisconsin.
