Canon U.S.A. has launched new industrial configurations for the Océ Arizona 6100 Series, the company’s flagship flatbed printers designed for industry-leading print providers producing 300,000 – 2,000,000 square feet of rigid media per year. Developed to address the short-run corrugated packaging market and temporary Point of Purchase (POP) display market, the new High Flow Vacuum configuration “makes the Océ Arizona 6100 Series ideal for dynamic, versatile large-format printing applications,” said the OEM. Available for both the 6-colour Océ Arizona 6160 XTS and 7-colour Océ Arizona 6170 XTS models, the new High Flow Vacuum configuration extends the printing capacity of the models, and allows users to develop applications traditionally served by screen printing or lithographic lamination. Users can also now load and print on various forms of challenging media – such as highly porous corrugated fibreboard and warped plywood – without taping or mechanically constraining it. Print speeds of over 1,000 square feet per hour for uncoated corrugated fiberboard, plywood and rigid fiberboard printing applications can be achieved.

“The Océ Arizona 6100 Series continues to open the door to new business opportunities in the flatbed printing market, and has set an industry standard for delivering high speeds and high productivity with best-in-class print quality,” said Sal Sheikh, Senior Director, Marketing, Large Format Solutions, Canon U.S.A. “With the new High Flow Vacuum configuration, we’re continuing on that success and will extend the reach of this successful series to forms of demanding substrates that have proven to be difficult in the past. This is also an excellent opportunity for users to explore innovation in the flatbed printing landscape – and this new feature will allow both new and existing customers to move more applications to a digital platform without the burden of astronomical costs.”
Featuring unrestricted airways and an Océ-patented airflow management system designed to bring all available airflow to bear instantly, the new High Flow Vacuum configuration makes loading even severely warped media easy and efficient. This enables plywood, MDF, and other fibreboard and wood printing applications that would otherwise require mechanical constraint of the media, to be handled effectively. To better support the printing of 5.2 ft.-wide paper fibreboard media such as Re-Board or Xanita, the new configuration has an even larger print area than standard. An expanded vacuum surface of 8.2 ft. x 10.4 ft. allows for 2-up printing of 4 ft. x 8 ft. boards, while the standard pneumatic registration pins ensure easy, repeatable rigid media loading. The new High Flow Vacuum configuration for the Océ Arizona 6160 XTS and Océ Arizona 6170 XTS will be available in the third quarter of 2017.
