Canon Canada’s “Make Your Mark” Open House held Wednesday, October 26 at the Canon Creator Lab in downtown Toronto, saw creative professionals, designers, photographers, printers and the trade media gather to explore the latest wide-format technology from Canon – specifically the OEM’s flagship imagePrograf series of wide-format printers for the fine art and photography markets.
Canon Canada’s Jean-Francois Drolet demonstrated the abilities of Canon’s wide-format technology. Live, close-up photos were taken of a model’s face and sent wirelessly to a Canon Image Prograf Pro-4000 Printer. Prints were output and attendees were able to see first-hand how the Pro-4000 reproduced the most intricate facial details, fine lines and skin tones. Drolet went on to outline the benefits of the various Canon devices showcased (along with samples from each printer alongside) – from its 12-colour model to its B&W wide-format printer. He also pointed to the devices’ small footprint and exceptionally low cost that makes it affordable for professionals photographers, agencies and commercial printers.

One of Canon’s more recent releases is the 8-colour, 60” imagePrograf Pro-6000S for production signage and commercial photography, that uses a new ink set to enhance reds, reduce graininess and improve dark areas.
Canon’s newest launch is the Canon Océ PlotWave 550 monochrome printer aimed at the AEC, manufacturing, CAD and commercial printing sectors. It features B&W prints with sharp details, accurate curves and smooth grayscales. Its Océ Image Logic facilitates copying and scanning by compensating for wrinkles and paper folds on originals.
Attendees enjoyed food and refreshments, said hello to old friends and new acquaintances, and networked throughout the evening.
