Crawford Technologies to participate in Blinded Veterans Association National Convention August 14

Toronto-based Crawford Technologies (Booth 103), a leading provider of document solutions that streamline, improve and manage customer communications, will be participating in variety of ways at the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) National Convention held August 14-18 in Jacksonville, Florida. The Blinded Veterans Association was established specifically to help veterans and their families meet and overcome the challenges of blindness and vision impairment. Crawford Technologies plans to demonstrate a smartphone app with accessibility settings, present a workshop to train veterans on using the app, and act as an “angel sponsor” for a blinded veteran wishing to attend.
In Crawford Technologies’ booth, the latest release of the company’s groundbreaking app, Voiceye, will be showcased. Voiceye is an affordable and easy way to make print documents accessible by inserting a special barcode that can be scanned by a free smart phone app. When the code is scanned, the information is automatically converted to large text, displayed in high contrast, transformed to an audio file using the accessibility settings on the smart phone, and can also drive a braille keyboard. The BVA now incorporates Voiceye in all its newsletters and communications to its members. This app can be downloaded for free from Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) by searching ‘Voiceye.’ Dennis Quon, Document Accessibility Solutions Development Manager for Crawford Technologies, will lead an educational workshop for veterans on August 14 at 1 pm on the functionality of the Voiceye app and how it can be used essily in everyday life to make paper documents accessible. This interactive session will review how barcodes are generated in MS Word, how a smart phone can be used to scan the barcode, and what features are available in this unique app.
