D.P.R. Labeling (Sunrise, Florida) has announced the release of its Gemini, a digital die cutter for sheet labels. This desktop-style cutter is capable of handling various types of material with different thicknesses and sheet sizes such as A4, A3, Letter, Tabloid and Tabloid Extra format. Capable of cutting any shape and size, the Gemini is an ideal die-cutting solution for the print and packaging industry, said the OEM. Pressure-sensitive stickers, decals and labels can be cut with precision using camera-equipped technology. Heavy cutting may also be performed, as the Gemini is able to cut postcard materials ranging from 7.05 to 12.35 ounces (200 to 350 gr), for applications such as business cards, tags, small boxes and packaging. Speed varies depending on the complexity of the outline, and on average runs 30-40 seconds when cutting pressure-sensitive materials. For through-cutting, the speed depends on thickness. The software manages files in both Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw format.
dprgeminidiecutter1-in“The versatility of this product is unmatched,” said Luca Bortolon, Sales Division at D.P.R. Labeling. “The fact that it can be used in unison with any desktop printer gives it a very broad usage base. Secondly, it can cut so many items based on the thickness of the material. The limitations of this product are limited only by one’s imagination.”
The Gemini is scheduled for commercial release in August.
