Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada), headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, has announced the first Canadian installation of the Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 Inkjet Press at Flash Reproductions in Toronto. “This ground-breaking technology offers unprecedented flexibility to meet the most demanding needs of creative agencies and graphic designers,” said the OEM. “The innovative B2+ inkjet press technology promises to revolutionize and create new possibilities to better serve the needs of the design community.” Flash Reproductions set out to find a solution that can provide high quality, short-run work – one that would pass the discerning quality standards of the design community. After extensive research and technical validation, they decided on the AccurioJet KM-1 Inkjet Press. The press combines the speed and flexibility of offset presses with the digital benefits of variable-data printing and the elimination of make-readies. Key product highlights include:
- Ability to print on 23” x 29.5” sheet size, allowing for 6-up, full-bleed, letter-size printing at 3,000 pages per hour
- Prints on 17-lb. vellum up to 24 point stock weights without any pre-coating
- Automatic perfecting/duplexing up to 18 point
- Prints on traditional offset/litho stocks – as well as textured, synthetics and canvas
- Unique patented UV ink immediately cures for greater post-press durability
“We’re obsessive about print processes, and if there’s a new way to print or even a new twist on an old process, we find it and research it,” said Rich Pauptit, President of Flash Reproductions. “To put it simply, I believe the KM-1 will allow us to offer what everyone wants – the best quality in the shortest time at a budget-conscious price. Our research and investigation has resulted in all the experts at Flash uniformly agreeing that this is the machine we’ve been waiting for. We’re ready and excited to dive in. I truly think that we’ll look back at the install of this machine as the day that everything changed. I’m not foolish enough to claim that I can see the future, but I’m smart enough to keep my eyes open while it’s happening.”
“Konica Minolta is proud to enter Canada with the first install of the AccurioJet KM-1 Inkjet Press with our partner Flash Reproductions, a premier provider of high-quality print across the Canadian region,” said Bill Troxil, Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Development at Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. “The Canadian marketplace is a strategic and key footprint to establish our brand and launch this exciting new technology in the high-end inkjet printing segment of the marketplace in Canada.”
“We’re excited to combine our resources with such a customer-focused, innovating market leader as Flash Reproductions,” said Chris Dewart, President and CEO at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada). “This partnership is yet another example of the confidence and credibility Konica Minolta is continuing to earn with the Canadian printing industry. We’re committed to continuing to listen to what the market needs, so we can further develop innovative new technologies that deliver value to the industry.”
Founded in 1969, Flash Reproductions started as a quick-print shop serving a small community within Toronto. With a strong focus on customer service, it soon developed a country-wide reputation for printing projects that other shops deemed impossible. That reputation allowed them to grow and become one of Canada’s top printers, producing some of the most beautiful award-winning projects for a huge array of clients – from small design firms to large corporations. Using cutting-edge offset, letterpress and UV screen capabilities, the company can print on any surface – “from paper to vinyl to hockey pucks.” Its complete in-house bindery and finishing department specializes in saddle-stitching, die-cutting, foil stamping, embossing and much more. The company is also FSC-certified as an industry leader in eco-friendly printing methods.
