Fujifilm North America’s Graphic Systems Division recently hosted a Prime Label Technology Summit at its Chicago Technology Center, showcasing innovative packaging technology trends to invited attendees. Successful solutions were the focus at the two-day event, with hands-on demonstrations of the Graphium (a UV inkjet press for labels, packaging, and specialty print) and the Flenex series (a new flexographic plate system). The OEM added that Graphium represents the “next generation” of UV inkjet presses for labels, packaging and specialty print that enables profitable printing of short-run jobs while boosting productivity and providing new print options previously unavailable through traditional flexo technologies. Overall, Graphium streamlines workflow, requires less set-up materials, reduces waste and eliminates overruns.
Attendees also saw a wide array of additional value-added solutions while collaborating with industry leaders CGS-Oris, who discussed Flex Pack label production. Esko showcased extended colour gamut printing capabilities and reps from TLMI (Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute) spoke about industry advances. Bob Leahey, Associate Director, InfoTrends, shared his thoughts about what’s trending in the marketplace. In addition to learning more about packaging technology, attendees were brought up to speed on many other innovations – including Fujifilm’s Acuity series, its J Press line-up, and the Inca Onset and Xerox presses housed within Fujifilm’s 20,000-square-foot Technology Center.
