With more than 130 years of experience in packaging innovation, Jones has become an internationally recognized leader in delivering unique and integrated solutions for printed packaging and contract packaging, as well as quality products for the safe dispensing and delivery of medications. Founded in 1989, Safety Seal Plastics has evolved from a supplier of tamper-evident bands to the pharmaceutical and food industries, to one of North America’s premier shrink-sleeve manufacturers.
“The shrink sleeve business was the smallest within our Printed Packaging portfolio, and the only product not integrated with our two other divisions – Contract Packaging Services and Healthcare,” said Ron Harris, President and CEO at Jones. “We remain fully committed to our strategic focus in printed packaging with innovative solutions for folding cartons, pressure-sensitive labels and leaflets, as well as new offerings in printed electronics technology. In fact, we recently made a significant investment in a new press to keep up with growing demand in these areas, in support of our overall corporate strategy.”
“The acquisition of the shrink sleeve business from Jones is a key element of Safety Seal Plastics’ growth strategy,” said Michael Bedrosian, Safety Seal Plastics’ President and CEO. “There is a natural synergy between our companies’ existing customer bases, which include some of the most recognized global pharmaceutical and consumer brands. This will facilitate the transition of business. We have also recently acquired a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Guelph, Ontario to accommodate this new business and future growth. We are relocating our current Hamilton-based operations to the new Guelph facility before the end of the year. It’s a very exciting time for Safety Seal.”
