Over 150 printers, industry partners and media convened in New Orleans at the 2019 GUA (Graphic Users Association) Conference in mid-May to mark the 20th anniversary of the print industry’s leading pre-press automation software, Kodak Prinergy Workflow. The GUA Community is a worldwide, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering users of Kodak solutions with the tools and information to be successful. Founded 20 years ago, it’s comprised of customers sharing their knowledge and experience to help one another. GUA members and regional advisory boards work closely with Kodak to provide feedback on new and existing solutions that address real-world business and technical challenges.
The two-day forum celebrated 20 years of collaboration between printers and Kodak that’s transformed the way pre-press departments operate, while also fostering lively discussions on the latest technology innovations that will shape the industry’s future. At the event, some of the very first printers to introduce Prinergy into their production workflow were among the attendees. For all these printers, a common theme emerged about its overall impact on the industry. That was basically to be more flexible and more efficient in integrating solutions that optimize a printer’s workflow and throughput, while at the same time managing overall costs. In the forum’s opening address by Todd Bigger, who was recently appointed to lead Kodak’s Software Division, he set out a clear vision of how Kodak and Prinergy will continue to provide printers with the innovative tools and close collaboration they need to remain competitive and profitable.
“For 20 years, Prinergy has helped thousands of printers all over the world focus on what matters most – building a thriving business,” said Bigger. “Our customer-focused and customer-driven approach continues to guide us today as we invest in Prinergy to make the most powerful tool in the industry even better. While the demands on printers become more complex with opportunities to grow into new markets, Prinergy aims to eliminate complexities for printers with comprehensive automation that drives costs down and is easily expandable, so they can add capabilities as their needs change, and their business evolves.”
Prinergy Solutions offer customers maximum value and flexibility to remain competitive because they’re a sustainable investment, said Kodak. The portfolio of solutions supports all major printing processes across commercial and packaging, including offset, flexo, digital and gravure. The technology manages a broad range of digital printing systems including the Kodak Nexpress and Nexfinity Press platform and Kodak Prosper Presses. It’s also compatible with nearly all third-party solutions and equipment. Prinergy also provides customizable automation capabilities and access to innovative cloud-based and decision analytics-based tools. In the lead-up to drupa 2020, Prinergy will announce several “exciting new developments” for the platform, including the upcoming release of Prinergy Managed Services, Kodak added.
