The Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) will hold an exciting Career Development Day for emerging creative professionals Saturday, March 5. The Creative Directions Career Conference will connect students and other emerging professionals with employers, offering constructive feedback on their work while helping hone the skills to establish and grow a rewarding career within the creative, design and graphic communications industries. Over 150 senior industry professionals, including creative directors from top design firms, ad agencies and corporate design departments, will volunteer their time over the course of the day to share their experiences, advice and knowledge about how to succeed. Whether you’re working in-house, are about to enter the workforce as a recent graduate, or are doing freelance work, you’ll get get direct, professional feedback in 1-on-1 portfolio reviews, panelist input and advice on getting hired, surviving critiques, advice on staying creative, and can join a workshop on Job Search: Presenting Your Ideas & Self-Employment.
Prizes and pricing
In addition to door prizes and free swag from the Giveaway Table, portfolio review participants will have a chance to win awards. Reviewers will be identifying one candidate from each Morning, Mid-Day and Afternoon session who gives the strongest portfolio presentation and demonstrates the best attitude toward feedback. The three winners will be announced at the event and awarded a $150 Blurb gift card to turn their portfolio (or anything else they wish to publish) into a beautiful book or magazine of their own creation. Cost for RGD members – Full Day: $75 (3 Sessions); 1 Session: $30. For non-members – Full Day: $110 (3 Sessions); 1 Session: $50. This does not include 13% applicable taxes.
