Rohrer Corporation (Wadsworth, Ohio), a specialist in visual packaging solutions, has announced the release of rStructure Coating – one of five specialty products in its rSeries. rStructure is a textured coating that creates a multi-dimensional, embossed look on printed packaging. “The visually elegant effects of rStructure spark interest in the consumer and demand to be touched,” said the company. “Once picked up, the luxurious tactile elements give the consumer a higher perceived value and feel for the quality of your product.
These special visual effects are applied inline by combining special patterns with Rohrer’s two-step coating process. This produces attractive, reticulated textures in the printed image with strongly accented gloss effects that “are quite unique in the sheetfed offset industry.” In today’s market, the company added, consumers are expecting more from brands and their products.
