Ryerson University’s annual GCM Colloquium this Wednesday, April 3 from 4 pm to 6 pm is a yearly conference project organized and run by students of the School of Graphic Communications Management (GCM). The conference connects students and members of the printing and graphic arts industry, encouraging them to network and form professional business relationships. In addition, each year a trending and/or relevant topic in the printing industry is selected to be the theme of this event. This year’s theme is Passion, Purpose and Production in the Graphic Arts. This year’s event has been expanded even further, becoming the Colloquium + Expo, opening its doors to even more students and industry members. During the first half, graduates will be given the opportunity to present and showcase their business plans and their theses projects to prospective employers and fellow students. This will allow them to expand their professional network and foster meaningful business relationships.
Later in the evening, industry guest speakers will present their Passion, Purpose and Production knowledge within their respective segments of the printing and graphic arts industry, sharing their insights and valuable experience with the audience. Following the presentations, a panel discussion will open up the floor to anyone with questions. “We believe that bringing together these two events will provide an amazing opportunity for all attendees. We anticipate this year to have even larger attendance than previous years,” said organizers.
The 2019 Colloquium and Expo will be hosted under the same roof – at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (formerly Maple Leaf Gardens) in the Alumni Lounge, located at 50 Carlton Street in downtown Toronto, from 4 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019. The GCM Expo will take place from 4pm to 6 pm, followed by the GCM Colloquium Program from 6 pm to 8 pm. Food and beverage will be served throughout the evening.
Cost is only $5. To register please visit https://sites.google.com/view/colloquium2019. For partnership and sponsorship opportunities please contact Adele St-Pierre at astpierre@ryerson.ca.
(EDITOR’S NOTE: This event is well worth your time. In past years I was incredibly impressed by the energy, exuberance, ingenuity, creativity and foresight of the students and their business plans – and the industry speakers were just as compelling).
