Canon U.S.A. has added four new wide-format models to its imagePrograf seriesof printers, distributed via LexJet. The new models will include fluorescent pink pigment ink – an industry first for aqueous printers. “We’re excited to partner withCanon U.S.A. to offer our customers the first-ever aqueous printer with fluorescent ink,” said C.J. Forker, LexJet’s VP of Sales. “The new Canon imagePrograf GP Series will help meet the increased demand for intense, eye-catching colours for applications that include high-impact pop art, point-of-purchase graphics, posters and more.”

The new imagePrograf GP-4000 (44”) and GP-2000 (24”) use 10 colours – including red, orange, green, and violet ink – plus the new fluorescent pink ink. The imagePrograf GP-300 (36”) and GP-200 (24”) utilize five colours plus fluorescent pink ink. These ink combinations help expand the range of colour reproduction to achieve “the widest colour gamut in the history of the imagePrograf line-up,” said the companies. The GP-2000/4000 models achieve up to 99% of Pantone coverage, obtaining a “Pantone-calibrated” license with two Pantone publications. Radiant Infusion technology layers a newly developed fluorescent pink ink with other inks on a paper’s surface. This layering enables bright and soft colour reproduction. In addition, the imagePrograf GP 4000 and GP-2000 feature red, orange, green and violet inks to achieve the widest colour gamut to date that’s available in the imagePrograf series.
