Electronics for Imaging (EFI) and Xerox are bringing to market a new Fiery Digital Front End (DFE) for large workgroups. The Xerox EX-c C8000 Print Server powered by Fiery for Xerox AltaLink C8000 colour Multifunction Printers (MFPs) offers accurate and consistent colour, enhanced productivity, fast job preparation, and a host of other productivity and security benefits. It makes high-quality, high-volume workgroup printing more affordable and flexible, said the companies. “With the new Fiery server for the AltaLink C8000 Series MFPs, EFI and Xerox elevate the quality standard for workgroup printing,” said John Henze, Vice President of Fiery Marketing at EFI. “Customers get the best of both worlds – the highest colour quality and an efficient, connected workflow that helps them be more productive and reduce print outsourcing.”

The Xerox EX-c C8000 Print Server is the first server on a new Fiery platform designed to provide a lower-cost option for large workgroups, while delivering the performance power needed to print large, graphic-intense Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe PDF files quickly and accurately. For customers who need accurate corporate colours – such as Pantone colours – and high-quality images for applications such as client proposals, real estate fliers or sales collateral – the EX-c C8000 Print Server ensures that their materials will print exactly as they intended. The optional Fiery Spot-On feature allows the creation of custom spot colours as well as substitute colours, ensuring that customers can get accurate colour out of all applications.

The new server features many tools to help workgroups be more productive. Fiery VUE, the free visual print application, gives users the ability to see exactly how finished booklets will print, as well as to combine multiple documents into one finished booklet. With Fiery FreeForm, workgroups can create personalized Microsoft Word or Adobe InDesign documents more efficiently. Fiery Hot Folders and Virtual Printer options save time and avoid wasting prints by using drag-and-drop or simple file-to-print workflows that automatically contain the correct print settings for the document’s type.
The AltaLink C8000 Series of MFPs are part of the Xerox ConnectKey portfolio, which feature a host of productivity-boosting apps. The Fiery server integrates seamlessly with ConnectKey apps such as Xerox Easy Translator, and cloud solutions such as Dropbox. In addition, the Fiery server is compatible with Nuance applications such as Equitrac, ensuring a secure and intelligent print workflow. The new print server also integrates with AltaLink C8000 Series MFP security protocols and includes standard Fiery features such as user authentication, encryption, network protection (including IP filtering and port blocking), secure printing and more.

The Xerox EX-c C8000 Print Server powered by Fiery is available now from Xerox and authorized Xerox re-sellers.
