The latest additions to the fifth-generation line of Image Access (Elgin, Illinois) book scanners, the Bookeye 5 V3A and V2A Automatic Book Scanners are an ideal solution for automated, high-end digitization of books, magazines, posters, folders, or bound documents of all kinds. Completely redesigned to meet the latest technological standards and to comply with the strictest environmental standards, the new scanners offer “unsurpassed image quality paired with simple operation, a modern design, and literally maintenance-free operation for all professional applications,” said the OEM. With its 600-dpi and a scan time of less than 3 seconds for the entire A3+ capture area, the Bookeye 5 V3A and V2A are equally suitable for both large and small digitization projects. The new book scanners can also handle demanding applications, yielding highly efficient digital reproduction for preservation of projects from highly sensitive sources often found in libraries, archives, offices and more.

A special highlight – the new motor-driven V-shaped glass plate – ensures “the most gentle” digitization of books and source documents. The V-shaped glass plate is controlled via a ScanWizard extended user interface. The new control panel with animated function buttons allows horizontal movement up and down, setting the speed or position in which the glass plate remains after the finished scan job. Like all other Image Access Bookeye Book Scanners, the book cradle can also be used in flat mode. A 21” full HD multi-touch screen allows the operator to control image quality and make modifications on the fly. Attach a second optional screen to operate the scanner with the main touchscreen, and users can preview images via the second screen. A Live Preview function uses a second matrix camera to present a live video view of the document position before scanning.
