Graphic Arts Media

Editor’s corner – September 2016

Our redesigned website has been up and running for several months. There are now more posted news articles and more special features. We normally post at least three news items each weekday. We also added new categories such as 3D printing, flexo, wide format, profits & costs, a video section, and so on. We’ve also made it more mobile-friendly. At the same time, we’ve continued to send out our weekly e-newsletter and have also added a “story of the week” that we e-blast each Friday. These “cool” Friday features are quite popular, often resulting in a substantial boost in traffic. We’ve also stepped up our social media initiatives on various key platforms.
We were initially hoping that, by continuing with these strategies, we would retain our monthly visitor traffic over the traditionally slower summer months – that has averaged 13,000 – 15,000 unique monthly visitors (about 45% higher than the same months last year). Well, to our surprise, when checking rankings and traffic overview on SimilarWeb, there was a jump to almost 33,600 in the month of July! We intend to keep up all these efforts, and in fact, increase them this fall. This is great news not just for us, but for our advertisers!
Congratulations to our long-time webmaster and magazine designer George Dedopoulos, who spent endless hours re-creating the site and continues to optimize it, and to our online marketing specialist Greg Turner, whose social media efforts helped propel us to where we are today.
Online marketing packages
Our new, cost-effective online marketing packages, designed to generate qualified leads, are also experiencing growth. Already, several current and new advertisers are participating. These new online programs are an opportunity to post your videos, case studies, whitepapers, testimonials and special offers on our website, to reach the prospects that you want.
Tell us how you did at September’s tradeshows
If you plan on attending the SGIA Expo, Consac’s Sign Expo Canada, or Graph Expo, and would like some post-show coverage on our website, I’m ready to help you. Send me an e-mail and perhaps snap a few good photos of your team and/or your booth. I’ll do my best to post your stories on our website. If you like, I’ll even send back the live link to share with your team, your customers and your potential clients. Oh, and most of all, have a worthwhile show.
Until the next time, always remember that we’re here to help you.
