Print 09 is myPrint, and your Print, and everyone in the graphic communication industry’s Print for that matter. The show organizers have geared the show to encompass all aspects of graphic communications with a “no niche left behind,” attitude. The show was marketed as a customized trade show experience that is “all about you with hot new products,” and it certainly looks like it will deliver with over 650 exhibitors, 90 seminars, 5 specialty pavilions and 600,000 sq. ft. of show floor.

There are new products being announced all over the industry almost everyday with many more set to be announced during the show. There will also be a few new additions to the show itself including a new PackPrint section specifically for package and specialty printers. PackPrint promises to be a trade show within-a-trade-show with 49,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space. Here attendees will find products, services and information about topics such as RFID, printed electronics, labels, digital printing, flexible packaging, converting, folding, gluing and more. There will also be a new area called GREENspace. This is where attendees can find valuable information, products and services related to eco-friendly print production. Last but not least, is the addition of the print buyers conference, which offers learning and networking opportunities for entry level to advanced print buyers.

For those of you who cannot make it to the show, you can see what exhibitors will be featuring in this article. For those of you who are at Print 09 while you are reading this, or on the way soon, make myPrint, your Print, and enjoy the show!

It also tracks impressions on dies to avoid costly press run stoppages. Dienamic will also be demonstrating its Foil Calculation Software, which allows users to know exactly how much foil is required for each job. This will help avoid the costs of ordering too much foil or incurring costly production stoppages to get more foil. These software tools can be used standalone by printers or packagers that offer diecutting and foil/embossing services. Dienamic will also have its estimating, MIS and online software for finishers/binderies. These software tools also integrate in with the Dienamic Estimating, MIS and online customer solutions designed specifically for the post-press industries of print finishers and trade binderies.

Metafix solvent systemMetafix

Metafix will be featuring chemical treatment and control systems at the show. These include the company’s line of pH control systems for CtP waste and include a remote monitoring program. Also at the show will be Metafix’s solvent recycling system that can recycle up to 90 per cent of used solvents. This is significant since most printing facilities use a lot of solvent and pay good money to have it hauled away. For every drum of virgin solvent used on press, they will generate two drums of waste, each costing around $300 for disposal. By recycling solvents and chemicals, customers will be able to achieve some great savings on their balance sheets as well as helping to sustain our environment.

Master Flo Technology

Masterflo M410 Ink Leveller SystemThis research and development-oriented manufacturer of printing press accessories will be highlighting its Geothermal Press Cooling system, which is electrically powered and harnesses “earth energy” by using the different temperatures found in the earth and water to cool or heat the air and water for buildings. The temperature underground is cooler than the above ground air in the summer and warmer in the winter. The average geothermal system should require 25 per cent of the maintenance and last 300 per cent longer than conventional refrigeration in the pressroom environment. Less maintenance is required because the system has less moving parts than conventional systems, and the system should last longer than presses making it a viable long-term solution.

Manroland DirectDrive 700manroland

Featured this year will be manroland’s highly-regarded PRINTVALUE program, which successfully introduced Printservices, Printnet, Printcom and Printadvice to the market last year. PRINTVALUE offers an across-the-board strategy that allows printers to reduce costs and increase efficiencies. The newly-enhanced perfect binder now supports PUR processing for both spine and side in a single integrated applicator head. The AmigoPUR also separates itself from the competition with a second spine preparation station. The Book Data Center (BDC), engineered for Acoro, Bolero and Corona adhesive binding systems, enables all relevant book measurement data for the entire perfect binding line to be recorded and retrieved by individual machines.

The patented FloClear technology, winner of the GATF Intertech Award, is a world leading process for recycling fountain solutions at quality printing plants across the globe. Fountain solution life is extended and its clarity maintained for months of press operation. The FloClear LS has the filtering capacity and performance ideal for customers with 29” 6-colour or a 40” 2-colour press with a central circulator. The small footprint of the unit allows for easy installation. FloClear HS is a compact system for sheetfed press configurations of up to a 6-colour 40” with a central chiller.

Also being highlighted at the show is the PriscoTech WaterMizer, which permits recycling and reuse of plate processor wash water that traditionally goes down the drain. The system has the added benefit of allowing a plate processor to be installed without having to move drain lines and permits the use of “process water” to wash plates, thereby improving plate quality.
