Phoenix Challenge Foundation announces 2016 High School Competition dates

phoenixhschallenge2016a-inThe Phoenix Challenge Foundation (PCF) has announced that this year’s High School Competition event will be held April 6-7 at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 2016 competition marks the 19th Challenge that supports graphic arts high school students and teachers throughout Canada and the U.S. As always, they’re invited to participate in the two-and-half-day, skills-based competition with hands-on and comprehensive testing in printing mathematics, flexo press operation, prepress, platemaking, and overall flexo knowledge. A panel of judges made up of industry professionals and educators will score a variety of skills sessions – including live-action prepress and on-press activities for each team – to identify the eventual winners. Winning teams are rewarded with top honours and individual scholarships at the close of the competition, all funded by the Phoenix Challenge Foundation.

Its popularity and student success demonstrate that the flexographic industry is a great place to build a career,” said Bettlylyn Krafft, Chair of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation. The foundation exists solely through generous donations made by industry supporters and businesses. As the foundation grows, so does the need for incremental funding to continue building the workforce of tomorrow.
