The new printer’s air-cooled LED UV-curing is an alternative to current mercury lamp curing and enables printing on a broader range of media – saving energy, increasing system uptime and reducing operational expenses, said the OEM. The 2.5m hybrid solution for printing rigid and flexible media offers both high throughput and high print quality. The white ink function includes pre, post, spot and sandwich white. With the optional automatic board feeder, productivity can be further increased. Anapurna i-series inkjet systems are equipped with powerful, air-cooled 16-watt/cm² UV LED lamps. Because of their reduced heat emission, the H2500i can also cope with more heat-sensitive substrates such as thin-layer styrene.
“In addition to widening the media range, UV LED curing technology delivers operational and environmental benefits,” said Willy Van Dromme, Marketing Manager for Wide-Format Systems, Agfa Graphics. “Compared to mercury lamps, which last for about 1,000 operating hours, the lifetime of the LED alternative is in line with the lifetime of a typical printer of five years. In addition, the power output remains consistent over the LEDs’ operating life, which, for example, is an important element in maintaining good physical characteristics of the print with regards to adhesion.”
LED lamps also have no warm-up or cool-down time, and power consumption is much lower.
