Ultimate and Muller Martini partner to bring PDF/VT Imposition to personalized books and magazines

ultimatemullermartini-inUltimate TechnoGraphics (Montreal), a leader in imposition and finishing automation software, and Muller Martini, a global leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing print finishing systems, have combined their efforts to bring “innovative and efficient workflow” to automate imposition for on-demand and personalized books and magazines.
Muller Martini now integrates Impostrip VDP imposition’s new capabilities as part of its Connex system to manage the entire manufacturing process – from job submission to finished books or magazines, thus offering a more cost-effective solution for book-of-one and personalized magazines. Ultimate’s Impostrip Scalable PDF/VT imposition opens new possibilities in the field of industrial inkjet printing – enabling dynamic imposition for variable-data printing. “Workflow is about data manipulation for printing and finishing processes,” said the companies. “Today, digital printing is about using data to build products. The key element is the way the PDF data from upstream ordering is handled to produce variable size and quantity copies, and build the data with all personalized marks and barcodes for various purposes – such as tracking and finishing.”

“We’re quite excited with the result of our joint efforts with Muller Martini,” said Joanne David, President and CEO of Ultimate TechnoGraphics. “Together we’re showing a new way to produce variable books empowered by PDF/VT imposition that’s built for speed and sustainability.”
“Handling of PDF/VT within our workflow enables us to achieve a higher productivity level for our SigmaLine, the digital finishing system from Muller Martini,” said Andreas Aplien, Product Manager for the Connex Workflow System. “The fully integrated system is now able to industrially produce pure “Book of one” jobs. And the slogan has also changed from PDF In – Book Out to PDF/VT In – Variable Books Out.”
