The new fastBook Professional Book Block System, a 100% Swiss-made solution for the printing and photobook industry by Imaging Solutions AG (ISAG, Zürich, Switzerland), is for the production of professional, lay-flat photo books and “classy photo albums in breathtaking formats” up to 18 inches by 18 inches. ISAG’s new fastBook Professional bookbinding system for large-format photo books will enable printers to produce lat-flat photo books in XXL format (457 mm x 457 mm) at “breathtaking speeds.” The high-performance system has been designed for 24-hour production 7 days a week. It’s also a 4-in-1 solution, providing creasing, folding, pressing and gluing. The OEM added that, with its integrated hot-melt gluing technology, production costs are “dramatically reduced” because only a minimum of glue per square metre is required. No drying or storage time is necessary, and the photo products can be shipped on the day of manufacturing.
Also, the system’s adjustable fold pressing shapes the complete book block, thus providing “the highest professional photo book quality to consumers.” In bringing this new technology to market, ISAG said it was responding to the increasing demands for luxury photo products, such as wedding albums. This new system complements ISAG’s current product portfolio that includes its entry-level machine fastBook Basic and the industrial, high-capacity series fastBlock. The technology is set to make its world debut in Cologne, Germany September 20 – 25 at Photokina, Europe’s leading international tradeshow for the photographic and imaging industry.
