Ellis Packaging West (Guelph, Ontario) has purchased a Komori GLX 7-colour 41” press to be installed in March of 2017. This press represents the second Komori GLX technology purchased in Canada since the first GLX 8 Colour was installed in The Ellis Group’s Pickering plant just over one year ago. The GLX is equipped with the PQA-S-Inline Inspection System & Colour Control that scans each sheet for defects and automatically adjusts for ink consistency. The fully automatic feeder and delivery with logistics package, plus its integrated conveyor system, ensures that the rated 18,000 SPH run speed can be continually maintained. It’s also equipped with Low Energy Benford UV curing.
This new line of G series Komori presses represents Komori’s most environmentally friendly machines – and are the first presses to be sold in North America running with food-grade lubricants rather than petroleum based products. This press is the third new-generation Komori press that The Ellis Group has installed in its three plants over the past few years and “speaks to the confidence that the Ellis Group shares in this latest technology from Komori.”
John Clarke, President of Ellis Packaging West, added: “Witnessing the exceptional results achieved by our sister plant over the past year, including the reduction in make-ready times while reducing waste and maintaining very impressive run speeds, convinced us that we had to follow suit in Guelph in order to assure our customers that The Ellis Group will continue to provide the very best quality and value-added product in the folding carton market today”
ellispacakgingkomori1-inThe press was sold by Komcan, located in Georgetown Ontario. Komcan is the sole authorized agent for Komori printing presses and auxiliary equipment across Canada (including factory-approved service, OEM parts and consumables). Since 2013, Komcan has represented Komori products in Canada. It provides full technical support and service to Komori users with a factory-trained team of technicians who respond 24/7 – including after-hour emergency service and spare parts needs. Also, Komcan’s Remote Access Program allows technicians to log on to your press via the internet, take control of it, run tests, perform diagnostics and rectify problems remotely.
