Printing Survivor II wrap-up

Printing Survivor II, the second-annual town-hall-style event organized by Graphic Arts Magazine, was held Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Paradise Convention Centre in Concord, Ontario. Those who attended got practical, workable strategies from four renowned industry leaders, enjoyed a great dinner and met some new and familiar faces. A special thank you to sponsors Konica Minolta (Gold), Fujifilm and Agfa (Silver) and Heidelberg, Harrison Mailing Ltd. and 4over (Bronze). We also deeply appreciate the fabulous work of emcee Jana Lucatch of Magnum Printing in Richmond Hill, who did a wonderful job summarizing the presentations and keeping the agenda moving along. Thanks also to Tony Karg of Fujifilm who joined in the panel discussion with the keynote speakers as they answered tough questions from the floor.

Finally, thanks so much to those who attended. We’ve already received some wonderful unsolicited comments:

“Great event! The speakers were very inspiring.”

Chantelle Bani, Marketing Communications Manager, Avanti

“The presentations were perfect for the owner operator. My notes include: business planning in our uncertain economy; using new media for marketing; how to find growing companies to prospect for new business; and expectations when selling your business. The event was a valuable use of my time.”

Garth Atkinson, Publication Partners Limited

“Just a quick note to let you know that Brett really enjoyed the seminar. He said if you have another, we should attend too. So thanks for putting that on and doing such a great job.”

Jackie Kisiloski, PDS Pressdown

“I thought the speakers were very engaging providing excellent insights into subjects that are relevant to today’s business climate, as well as providing good takeaway ideas that could be easily implemented.”

Steve Klaric, Product Manager, Wide Format Inkjet, Heidelberg Canada Graphic Equipment Limited

At the event, Joseph P. Truncale, President and CEO of the NAPL, discussed the state of the printing industry in North America through to 2015 – and how we can create our own recovery and participate fully in the upturn ahead. A copy of his invaluable presentation, made possible by the generous support of MPI Print, was given to all those who attended. John Foley Jr., CEO of interlinkONE and Grow Socially, revealed how to find success in a multi-channel world. He guided attendees through the worlds of online marketing, social media, mobile (including QR Codes and Mobile Websites), and much more. Jay Mandarino, President and Founder of C. J. Graphics Inc., examined in detail mergers and acquisitions and how to partner properly with other companies. His presentation was extremely revealing and garnered the most questions from the audience. Peter Muir, President of Bizucate, talked about marketing yourself as well as your customers. He used some personal case histories to illustrate various strategies designed to boost profits and explained how partnering with your core customers and helping them with their own marketing efforts will pay dividends for both of you. His high-energy wrap-up left everyone inspired.
