Do you have blue jeans, sneakers, a big smile, a big heart and some spare time this Saturday, May 6? Then Jay Mandarino, President of C.J. Graphics (Canada’s most award-winning commercial printer), and President & Founder of the not-for-profit C.J. Skateboard Park & School in Toronto, has an idea that will bring a smile to your face – and to the faces of hundreds of children and their families currently coping with cancer. The C.J. Skateboard Park & School will once again host its annual series of Kids Being Kids in partnership with OPACC (Ontario Parents Advocating for Children with Cancer), Childhood Cancer Canada Foundation and Gilda’s Club of Toronto. The event will be held Saturday, May 6 at the Park, which is located at 60 Horner Avenue in Etobicoke, Ontario.
Kids and parents are welcome to come out and lend a helping hand with waiver signing, food and beverage distribution, group stretching, and assisting kids with their chosen activities. No equipment or expertise is required – just jeans, sneakers and a genuine smile! A great time is sure to be had by all. “No matter what they’re going through, kids still need to be kids,” said Mandarino. “They happen to be going through a tough time and being able to brighten their day, in whatever way, is so rewarding.”
The Kids Being Kids program invites, free of charge, children and their families living with Cancer to enjoy all the skate park has to offer – including scooters, knee-slides, a foam pit, Sony PlayStation room, arts and crafts and, of course, skateboarding. There’ll also be a vertical ramp demo by some of the park’s amazing volunteers and experienced riders.
