Canon 8.2-Mega Pixel EOS 20D Digital SLR camera
Designed for advanced amateurs, photojournalists, wedding photographers and print professionals, Canon’s new 8.2-Mega Pixel EOS 20D Digital SLR camera combines speed, image quality, ease-of-use and ruggedness in a compact size to deliver the highest performance in its class. It is the first mid-range digital SLR to offer high-speed continuous shooting of five frames-per-second with a burst of 23 frames at the highest JPEG resolution. Uncannily responsive, the camera starts up in 0.2-second and has a shutter release time lag of only 65 milliseconds. The all-new 9-point AF unit with high-precision cross-type sensor raises the bar on speed, accuracy and precision in mid-range SLRs. The new AF system has one full stop better low-light performance than its EOS 10D predecessor. The new E-TTL II auto flash metering system takes into account the distance, reflectance and position of the subject for highly stable, accurate and intelligent exposure calculations. The EOS 20D list price is $2,500 without a lens; and with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5 -5.6 zoom lens $2,800.
Oce Arizona T220UV
Oce showcased the Arizona T220UV, which won the DIMA 2004 Creative Application Award last year. The prints being produced were stunning. The Arizona T220UV is a versatile and cost-effective UV-curable inkjet flatbed printer. It can print directly onto a variety of uncoated or coated, flexible or rigid substrates up to 62 inches wide by 120 inches long by 2 inches thick such as foam boards, vinyl, PVC sheets, carpet and more. There is no minimum print size, which eliminates the need to use more material than necessary. This production speed inkjet printer uses piezo printing technology and UV-curable inks to produce outdoor-durable output. With four print heads per color, the Arizona T220UV can achieve production print speeds of up to 170 square feet per hour in four-pass mode and up to 90 square feet per hour in eight-pass mode. It is ideal for producing exhibit graphics, point-of-purchase displays, proofs and comps plus specialty items such as custom tiles, furniture panels and window blinds. The Arizona T220UV sells for around $210,995 (US).
Xeikon 5000 color printing system
Xeikon is headquartered in Lier, Belgium and manufactures high-quality digital color printing systems for heavy volume production. The company introduced its latest press, the Xeikon 5000 to the Canadian market. Evolved from the solid foundations of the DCP 500 D, the Xeikon 5000 shows improvement in virtually every aspect to make it the only industrial digital printing press that faces long runs without breaking a sweat. The print technology is based on a LED array-based toner electro photography configuration. Media width is up to 20”, and the duty cycle is up to 3,000,000 pages per month. Priced around $650,000 US.
Xerox DocuColor 6060 Digital Color Press
The Xerox DocuColor 6060 Digital Color Press builds on the rock-solid foundation of DocuColor 2060 and adds enhancements to make it the most agile and robust digital production press on the market.
