Mimaki launches 3DUJ-553 UV LED 3D Printer featuring over 10 million colours

With the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 UV LED 3D Printer, the OEM has introduced a radical new approach to 3D printing. This is the world’s first 3D printer with over 10 million colours, enabling the production of 3D objects, eliminating time-consuming finishing and the risk of damaging small, detailed parts. Most 3D printing solutions have two primary issues when it comes to creating 3D printed objects, said Mimaki. First, they can’t produce objects in photo-realistic colour. This often requires that objects have to be hand-painted – which is both time-consuming and expensive. Secondly, most 3D printed objects require removal of stabilizing fixtures before they can be used, risking damage to the objects themselves. The Mimaki 3DUJ-553 eliminates these barriers, since it can print photo-realistic colour, allowing users to choose from up to 10 million different colour combinations. As well, its water-soluble support material can easily be washed off without damaging the object. “This enables the cost-effective production of exquisite 3D printed products with elaborate finishing,” said the company.
The Mimaki 3DUJ-553 delivers:

  • Existing 3D data of white objects can be easily coloured in 3D Link software
  • Strength of the material is comparable with ABS
  • Three printing qualities (20, 32 and 42 micron layering)
