At the three-day C!Print 2018 trade show in Lyon, France that began yesterday, Agfa Graphics expanded its wide-format hybrid Anapurna LED series for sign and display printers with a new 1.65-metre-wide hybrid printer – the Anapurna H1650i LED. This smaller hybrid printer was designed as an accessible and cost-effective production tool that combines the latest LED technology with Agfa Graphics’ consistent, repeatable high-quality output. This latest addition to the Anapurna LED series is a smaller version of the popular and robust Anapurna H2050i LED printer, with which it shares several features and benefits. The new H1650i prints on rigid and flexible media by means of LED curing, resulting in a lower cost of ownership. It combines this with Agfa’s award-winning imaging quality, ink-saving thin-ink-layer technology and white-ink printing – yet requires a smaller financial investment than other Anapurna engines, said the OEM.
“The hybrid Anapurna H1650i LED printer was designed as a robust, qualitative and versatile entry-level option for wide-format print service providers,” explains Philip Van der Auwera, Product Manager at Agfa Graphics. “Although smaller, it’s equipped with features normally reserved for higher-end printers – such as automatic head-height measurement, crash prevention and an anti-static bar, thus offering the very best at a reasonable price. Of course, the Anapurna H1650i LED is driven by Asanti as well, which facilitates the resulting high-quality and consistent prints.”
About the hybrid Anapurna LED series
The wide-format hybrid Anapurna LED series is ideal for sign shops, digital printers, photo labs and mid-size graphic screen printers that want to combine board and roll-to-roll print jobs. The engines print at a width from 1.65 metres up to 3.2 metres, and combine high quality with high productivity for outdoor and indoor, rigid and flexible wide-format jobs. The white ink function creates possibilities for printing on transparent materials for backlit applications or for printing white as a spot colour. The optional automatic board feeder increases productivity even more. The hybrid Anapurna LEDs are fitted with air-cooled UV LED lights that save energy, money and time. Due to their minimal energy output, these LED lights are ideal for thin, heat-sensitive materials. They also lead to faster operations as they can be switched on and off instantaneously. Wide-format hybrid Anapurna LED engines have been characterized as robust, high-speed “workhorses” that excel in accuracy thanks to a reinforced belt drive and shuttle beam, a gradient and multi-layer functionality, and six 12-picolitre printheads. Fitted with air-cooled UV LED lights that allow printing on thin and thermal-sensitive substrates, these printers offer several unique advantages – such as a lower energy consumption, a wider application scope and higher productivity. The high-speed 4/6-colour + white hybrid UV LED-curable inkjet systems are powered by Agfa Graphics’ Asanti sign and display workflow software.
