The faculty and staff of Sheridan College’s new Honours Bachelor Degree in Creative Writing & Publishing (CW&P) held a free breakfast event for writing, publishing, and communications industry leaders on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 8:30 am to 10 am at its Hazel McCallion Campus (HMC) in Mississauga, Ontario. Attendees learned about this exciting new program and the opportunities accompanying it, among other things.
The new degree course was designed to address a lack of skills-based training in the creative humanities, said the university. It’s the only undergraduate degree-granting course in Canada that combines writing, editing, publishing and industry professionalization into its curriculum in every semester “to produce flexible, adaptable graduates who can edit, publish and collaborate as well as they write.” The college experienced tremendous student interest in the program when the application process opened last year, and was very proud to welcome 75 eager students into its CW&P program at the end of August, 2017. Also, applications to the program’s September 2018 intake are already up nearly 20% from this time last year!
