The Graphics Canada tradeshow, the largest event in the country for the printing and graphic arts industry, will take place April 11-13, 2019 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The show will feature three exciting days of the latest technology, learning opportunities, networking and more, from almost 200 exhibitors, encompassing virtually all industry sectors. We’ve got a preview for you on page 17. Also this month is a timely feature on page 27 on the challenges involved in choosing a digital print production press from industry veteran Alec Couckuyt. He’ll assess the key variables in the acquisition process.
I normally don’t mention installations, but this month we have two firsts in Canada. Edmonton’s Jag Printing purchased Canada’s first Duplo DDC-810 Raised Spot UV Coater from Sydney Stone, while PDI in Montreal became the first in Canada to install three new VUTEk printers from Electronics For Imaging. With the postal strike now in the rear-view mirror (thank goodness), Olivia Parker has some observations and facts on page 30 that you might find quite interesting.
Finally, as a proud Irish-Canadian, I’d like to wish everyone a very happy St. Patrick’s Day. No matter where you live in Canada, March 17 will likely be marked by regional St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and festivities in honour of Ireland’s most celebrated patron saint.
