DDL, a Toronto-based market leader providing business equipment and digital services – and the largest Ricoh dealer in Canada of the OEM’s multi-function printers, production print equipment and visual communications solutions – organized the one-day event that welcomed commercial printers, reps from other interested firms and members of the trade press to the Ricoh Canada’s Customer Experience Centre in Toronto, Wednesday, May 15. During morning and afternoon sessions, cybersecurity experts from Jolera, Cisco Canada and Ricoh USA updated attendees on today’s growing security concerns, while outlining possible risks that businesses can face by not having 24/7 security strategy in place. Presenters also helped to interpret the new security laws just sanctioned by the Canadian government. For example, reporting a data breach is now mandatory – it’s no longer a choice! Participants also learned about Ricoh’s and Cisco’s strategic partnership that empowers digital workplaces by globally deploying simpler and much more secure cloud solutions.

Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that cyber crime will cost the world in excess of $6 trillion annually by 2021, up from $3 trillion in 2015. And while digital connectivity is making our lives easier by boosting convenience and efficiency, and enhancing competitiveness, the risk of cyberattacks is increasing as well. In fact, more than 70% of attacks target small to mid-size businesses – and it can take up to six months or more to fully recover….. if ever! For example, in the first 60 days of 2019, 620 million stolen accounts were made available on the ‘dark web.’
