Tilia Labs launches Aries step-and-repeat technology for label printers

Tilia Labs (Ottawa, Ontario), a leading developer of planning, imposition and artificially intelligent automation software solutions for the printing and graphic communications industries, will launch a new solution at Labelexpo (Brussels, Belgium, September 24 – 27) “that dramatically reduces time and costs in label production.” Tilia Aries is a cross-platform step-and-repeat tool for label printers that enables quick and easy layouts for preprint, cutting and finishing. Tilia Labs and its local agent SS&C will present the new solution featuring a range of common label-production scenarios – such as custom repeats, multiple label combinations, and mixed size or irregular-shaped labels. Tilia Aries was designed “from the ground up” to simplify label pre-production. Its simple user interface is based on Google standards and design, allowing operators of any discipline to easily and intuitively generate print-ready layouts in minutes. The user can select existing settings or create new impositions, easily adjusting sizes, margins and substrates as required. Artwork files are imported into the layout by simple drag-and-drop, while die-lines can be stored and retrieved, or generated in an instant. Vendor neutral, Aries is designed to provide the same efficiencies with virtually all presses and finishing devices, for both seamless-repeat, roll-based and sheetfed production. Its modern architecture and use of open standards ensure that it will integrate into any workflow or MIS system and cut across the confusion of proprietary hardware and software, said the company.

“For Aries, we’ve particularly focused on the needs of digital label producers throughout the development, concentrating on how they can ensure quick turnaround – and profit – whatever the mix of formats, finishes and repeat lengths,” said Sagen de Jonge, CEO of Tilia Labs. “We’ve drawn on the technology behind our award-winning Tilia Phoenix planning and imposition software to deliver speed, flexibility and responsiveness – but without the multi-layered sophistication. This truly is a plug-and-play tool that will deliver returns from day one. We’re anticipating a very good response at Labelexpo.” At Labelexpo, Tilia Labs will also present its flagship Tilia Phoenix solution, which recently earned an InterTech Technology Award from Printing Industries of America (PIA). PIA cited its unique use of cutting-edge AI to solve complex planning problems at unprecedented speeds, which makes it capable of keeping up with the fastest presses on the market.
