Members of the Printing Industries of America (PIA) were recently sent an important e-mail revealing that the association is moving forward with plans to merge with the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA), according to WhatTheyThink.com. The PIA’s National Noard unanimously approved a resolution to merge the PIA with the SGIA, however the merger does require members of the Printing Industries of America to vote and approve the move. The PIA’s statement sent to its members clarified the situation: “In response to media inquiries about the potential merger of Printing Industries of America (PIA) and the Special Graphics Imaging Association (SGIA), PIA can confirm that its Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution on November 17, 2019 to merge with the SGIA. The merger would not take effect until May 1, of 2020, and requires approval from both PIA members and the SGIA’s Board of Directors. The PIA recently issued proxy ballots to its eligible voting members in which they have the opportunity to approve or to disapprove the proposed resolution.
