Many of its print, mail and digital platform solutions will be running live, including its flagship Producer 30 high-speed inserter capable of handling 30,000 #7 to #10 envelopes or 26,000 6” x 9” envelopes per hour. The Producer series is designed for environments that demand mail-piece quality and integrity controls, high-production volumes and low operating costs. Producer inserters are easily maintained with the fewest number of operators, which is extremely important in this market.

B&R Moll Inc. – Booth 3958

B&R Moll pioneered the first simple and affordable folder gluer over 40 years ago. The company will be demonstrating its Premier 36 Folder Gluer that will fold and glue “an extremely complex product.” Its Vantage 720 In-Line Folder Gluer will be folding a carton at high speeds while labeling/placing a coupon on the outside of the box. Color-Logic Inc. – Booth 5049

Color-Logic streamlines the prototyping of metallic inks in packaging and labels – which in this market connotes product value and integrity. Its technology lets designers use their traditional software to create compelling metallic designs that can be executed with unprecedented speed using inkjet printers to produce prototypes, and digital presses to produce test-market samples. Its system also enables visualization of those effects on a monitor before printing. Its Color-Logic Design Suite enables designers to add or alter decorative effects in seconds, rather than hours or days. The technology brings cost-efficient metallics into mainstream printing.

C.P. Bourg – Booth 1912

Several innovations in finishing for inline, offline and unique dual-mode production will make their North American debut. The latest Bourg perfect binding products include the Bourg BB3202 inline/offline perfect binder running inline with the Xerox Nuvera 314 EA Perfecting Production System and Challenge CMT330 Trimmer; Bourg BB3102 for unattended offline operation; and the new BB3002 PUR-C that delivers state-of-the-art PUR perfect binding in a compact and user-friendly setup. Bourg document finishing products include a versatile Bourg BSF Sheet Feeder production system (with BCM Bleed Crease Module and BM-e Booklet Maker) equipped with a new scanner option that combines the integrity of a barcode-driven workflow with JDF compatibility, as well as the new PowerSquare 224, running inline with a Xerox 8250.

Duplo USA – Booth 202

The OEM will debut its new mid-range DC-646 Slitter/Cutter/Creaser, which offers optional rotary tool and cross-perforating modules for increased versatility, as well as its low-volume 150C Booklet System, that incorporates the new DBM-150 Bookletmaker with the DSC-10/20 Collator. Other solutions include the DBMi Duetto Saddle System (a combined sheet feeding and collating saddle-stitching solution), and the Mitabook (an automatic hard cover casing-in machine for applications such as photo books). EFI – Booth 2602

EFI will focus on the technology behind its unprecedented eight Must See’Ems Awards. Enviro Image Solutions (EIS) – Booth 760

The Vancouver company will introduce clients who are benefiting from the environmental and cost savings in its Blanket Renewal Program. Pazazz Printing and Quantum Group, who have been customers for over four years, will be profiled. Pazazz Printing reached its goal of environmental sustainability by continually renewing its printing blankets multiple times, transforming them from one-time consumables into multi-use assets. Quantum Group’s master pressman of over 35 years, Ted Cnota Senior, continues to apply the pressroom changes suggested by the EIS blanket experts, which adds hundreds of thousands of dollars to Quantum’s annual bottom line.

Esko – Booth 4231

Esko will be showing its updated Suite 12.1 workflow and colour management solution as well as an ultra-fast i-XP24 Kongsberg cutting table demonstration of materials printed with FullHD Flexo plates (allowing flexo to compete with gravure), and wide format workflow. They will be giving away sanitizer bottles with labels printed by partner HP (with an Esko front end), the substrate provided by MACtac, and cut on the Kongsberg table.

Fujifilm  – Booths 1218 & 2990

Fujifilm will have two North American premiere launches – the J Press 540W roll-fed digital inkjet press and the Onset Q40i UV wide format inkjet press. Fujifilm will also feature the J Press 720 press, Acuity Advance HS and Acuity LED wide format printers. Fujifilm will premiere v5.5 of the XMF workflow demonstrating robust handling for variable-data printing applications. XMF ColorPath cloud-based colour management will highlight cross-media and cross-platform (digital, wide format, offset) integrated colour management solutions.

Gateway Bookbinding Systems – Booth 1058

The Winnipeg manufacturers of Plastikoil will be showing their entire equipment line – from a new basic office unit, to more productive equipment for the digital print shop, to their interline automated system for the larger in-plant or trade binderies. Be sure to check out its new Total Koil Binder. This machine has two modes of coil insertion that can handle coil diameters from 6 mm to 50 mm. Plastikoil binding and filament products are available in 45 colours and are CPSIA-compliant.

Goss International – Booth 2312

Goss will focus on commercial, packaging and newspaper production, continuing its “See Things Differently” theme. The new Goss Magnum Compact press will be introduced to the American market at the show, with live demonstrations of its Autoplate system. The company will highlight Goss and Ferag technology, recent projects in the Americas and its manufacturing and support resources in the region. The projects in the Americas include Sunday web presses, a triple-width newspaper press at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Goss-Ferag finishing solutions and creative aftermarket projects. For the packaging sector, the company will present updates of its Sunday Vpak web offset presses.

Graphic Whizard – Booth 3509

The Canadian company continues to add new products to its industry-leading line of print finishing equipment and will debut several machines including a PUR perfect binder, a UV Coater with multi-tank distribution and easy cleanup features, a cost-effective pile feeder, an economic receding stacker and new models of creasers in the PT series. Also launching will be the PT SCC – a slitter/cutter/creaser capable of producing finished pieces quickly and accurately.

Kodak – Booth 3187

Kodak’s presence at Print 13 will be focused on its partner relationships with Konica Minolta, Komori and MCS. Many innovative digital printing solutions, such as the NXP digital press and Prosper series hybrid digital imprinting systems, will be shown. Kodak executives will be present to showcase these and other new offerings and will be available at a small booth and meeting area, where they will also be sponsoring a customer breakfast.

Konica Minolta – Booth 518

The OEM will feature its EnvisionIT Production solutions and services that offer “the capabilities commercial printers need to improve productivity and increase profitability.” It will also feature a dedicated “Solutions Circle” where visitors can learn more about its All Covered IT Service, including cloud services, managed IT services and application solutions. Additionally, EngageIT Automation (a web-enabled order automation portal), EngageIT XMedia and Dispatcher Phoenix Professional solutions will be profiled. Other technologies and services will include: the KM-1/IS29 Inkjet Press; bizhub Press C1070/C1070P/C1060 Digital Press Series with expanded paper-handling, inline finishing and image-control capabilities; bizhub Press C1100 Color Digital Press; and the IC-602 Image Controller that mounts internally to bizhub presses to streamline workflow.

Metafix – Booth 110

Montreal-based Metafix Inc. will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in conjunction with Print 13 with its “strongest lineup of products ever to help printers monitor and control processes previously thought unmanageable.” Its breakthrough Metafix Fountain Solution Control System (FSC) gives pressroom operators the same level of measurement and control they expect in every other aspect of their printing processes. FSC actively monitors and manages the Fountain Solution and provides real-time alerts to potentially harmful changes during a press run. New for Print 13, Metafix is introducing an FSC dedicated to the sheetfed printer as well as offset. Another notable technology, the Metafix CTPpH Control System, collects, monitors and neutralizes CTP waste.

Muller Martini – Booths 831, 1281 & 3490

The company’s Investment Protection Program will be showcased as visitors will receive an industry-first, customized proposal that details available machine upgrades for both new and legacy Muller equipment. The Presto II Digital mid-size stitcher and the Solit Three Knife Trimmer, performing at 4,500 cycles per hour with an 85mm trim thickness capacity, are must-sees. Booth visitors will be able to take home their own Personal Journal trimmed on the Solit. The OEM’s ingenious MMInspect is an operational improvement program similar to an automobile’s 20 point inspection. It helps users achieve optimum performance levels. (www.printsites2go.com) offers breakthrough website design that is actually affordable, mostly by eliminating the hundreds of hours required for inputting pricing and shipping data. The company delivers a turnkey platform with over 55,000 price permutations and more than 30 of the most popular products for just under $150 per month. PrintSites2Go also comes with vendor management, where printers can outsource some products to their favourite trade printer, or print the products in-house. In addition, there are powerful reporting and analytics tools that yield business-critical data. The company has also integrated e-mail and coupon marketing. Oh, and its solutions are extremely user friendly.

Prisco – Booth 3502

Prisco’s PriscoDigital affiliate will be conducting continuous end-to-end workflow demos on various rigid media, utilizing the Kongsberg XN Automatic Cutting System from Esko. In addition, a flexible media workflow ideally suited for commercial printers will also be running live. Of particular note is PriscoDigital’s introduction of HP Latex Media, inkjet media from Kodak and various media finishing solutions into their customer offerings. PriscoDigital’s aim is to demonstrate that integrating wide format inkjet technologies within a traditional offset manufacturing environment can be easy and seamless. In demonstrations, prepared files will be processed through EskoArtwork i-cut suite software, ripped though the Caldera RIP (where colour management also takes place), and then printed utilizing the HP Scitex FB700. Printed images comprised of intricate shapes will be cut from the media utilizing Esko’s Kongsberg XN automated cutting system. The XN processes the image files through i-cut Vision Pro software, which calculates the cutting position information that drives the cutting heads. For flexible media applications, PriscoDigital will demonstrate the HP Latex 850 Inkjet system. Prisco is also introducing a completely new range of humidification equipment essential for digital and offset pressrooms and paper storage areas. Finally, Prisco will be demonstrating a number of proven solutions for fountain solution, press solvent and plate processor rinse water recycling.

Reprographic Technology Int. – Booth 3790

The Kitchener, Ontario company has been turning heads here, in the U.S. and in the UK with its aptly-named Vortex 4200 Printer. You can see this flagship device print about 9 metres per minute at a resolution of 1600 x 1600 dpi, with a faster option of 18 mpm at 1600 x 800 dpi. The high speed is due to 70,400 nozzles that produce up to 700 million drops per second. It accepts two rolls with three-inch cores and also has a sheet feeder, but is best suited to inkjet-coated media. Its Memjet-powered technology results in top quality, single-pass printing up to eight times faster when compared to traditional inkjet. RTI now has dealer agreements in Canada and the U.S. close at hand – so watch for more news about this innovative Canadian company and its products.

Spiel Associates – Booth 3526

Print 13 will be the 45th consecutive show where Spiel has been displaying exceptional bindery equipment. Check out all its machines, but don’t miss the Sterling Digipunch that punches paper without an operator. Kallima (manufactured by Tembec) will be showcasing its full line of FSC-certified coated cover products. Visitors will be able to see Kallima’s new C2S 14-pt. substrate. This is yet another Kallima grade that offers commercial printers superior printing and press run capabilities as well as cost savings. The TKS Jetleader 1500 Digital Inkjet Web-Fed Press is the world’s first digital inkjet printing system that produces sectionalized newspapers inline. The first Jetleader in North America was installed at Newsweb Corp., a U.S. printer headquartered in Chicago. Specifications include: 4/4 Process Colour Printing Units; Piezo Electric Drop-On-Demand Printhead; Maximum printing speed of 492 ft./min and maximum print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. The Montreal company will demo its new imposition and finishing JDF automation solutions, including Must See’Ems winner Ultimate Bindery V.3. Ultimate Bindery is designed to solve bottlenecks in finishing for production of short runs and personalized printing by combining a main device with optional finishing attachments. It offers features for sheet-level integrity when using the C.P.Bourg SheetFeeder for hybrid jobs with Xerox FinishingPlus or EFI Fiery. It’s also fully integrated within the HP SmartStream PrintServer enabling the definition of a finishing plan at the DFE. For the first time in the industry, it introduces direct connectivity integrating the Horizon JDF controller to automated Standard Horizon perfect binders with the 3-knife cutter and saddle stitchers. Ultimate will also show its Impostrip OnDemand Automation and Scalable v8 with new book-stacking options, advanced connectivity with web2print and MIS such as Avanti demonstrating the fastest and most automated imposition today.
