David Ross, CEO of Ottawa-based Ross Video, an international manufacturer of broadcast technology solutions and services, will be inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering at a special ceremony today in Calgary, Alberta. The conference gathers Canadian leaders to focus on clean growth with the theme Canada in a Carbon Competitive World. Fellows of the Academy are selected through a rigorous, multi-stage review and election process that takes into consideration their distinguished achievements and career-long service to the engineering profession. Members are also committed to ensuring that Canada’s engineering expertise is applied to the benefit of all Canadians. “As an engineer and business person, I love smart ideas that can be turned into successful products,” Ross said. “While our amazing team is global, and our customer base is global, my home is in Canada and I’m proud to create good jobs and prosperity where I live. This Fellowship is an honour, not just for myself but also for hundreds of engineers and product developers that I work with.”
Ross Video powers video production for billions of viewers every day globally. In 2016, Ross was Ottawa’s CEO of the Year, and in 2017 he received an Honourary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa. During that time his company also welcomed to its lobby two Emmy Awards for technical achievements in broadcasting. Ross products have played a part in the world’s most prestigious broadcast events, including the Super Bowl and the Academy Awards. The company’s solutions can be found in broadcast studios around the world, and even above the world on the International Space Station. Ross Video has almost 700 employees based in six international offices worldwide, and has enjoyed 26 consecutive years of growth. Ross Video was founded more than 40 years ago by David’s father, John Ross, who’s an Order of Canada recipient is attending today’s ceremony.
The Canadian Academy of Engineering is the national institution through which Canada’s most distinguished and experienced engineers provide strategic advice on matters of critical importance to Canada. The Academy is an independent, self-governing, non-profit organization established in 1987. It works in close cooperation with other senior academies in Canada and around the world.
