GPA, a U.S.-based market leader in substrate solutions for offset, digital and wide-format printing, has kicked off its 2016 Print & Design Contest. Now in its 11th year, the contest recognizes outstanding printed pieces for their excellence and creativity combined with the use of GPA substrates. Entries will be accepted through to October 31, 2016. For a printed piece to be eligible, it must be from an actual job or promotion printed on a qualified GPA substrate within the past year. There’s no entry fee, and participants are encouraged to submit as many entries as they like. To make entering this year’s contest even easier, GPA has restructured its product segments into six different categories:
- Pressure-Sensitive Synthetics
- Non-Adhesive Synthetics
- Pressure-Sensitive Papers
- Papers: Coated & Uncoated Papers, C1S & C2S Boards
- Papers: Specialty Fine Papers, Pre-Converted Substrates
- Wide-Format Substrates
A panel of industry experts will evaluate each entry on its uniqueness of design, application use, quality of printing, complexity of production and number of substrates used. From each of the six categories, a Best of Category winner will be selected. From those six, one is chosen as Best of Show. Best of Category and Best of Show winners will receive a framed copy of their winning piece, a monetary prize and industry recognition. New to this year’s contest is the Award of Distinction, which will recognize six entries that made a lasting impression on the judges, but did not win Best of Category or Best of Show. Award of Distinction winners will be selected based on their merit regardless of the category they were entered under, and will receive a certificate and industry recognition. All contest winners will be announced in January of 2017.
