Webcom (Markham, Ontario), a leading provider of turnkey book printing solutions for global and independent book publishers, has announced that former Heidelberg Canada executive Ken Freek has joined the company as a Senior Project Manager. Freek joined Heidelberg Canada in 2001 as a Digital Products Manager and later became Director of Sales and Service for the OEM’s Digital Products, Director of Logistics, Sales Manager of Heidelberg Direct, and eventually became Vice President of Product Management in 2009. Freek actually worked at Webcom from 1981 to 1987 as Plant Manager and rejoined the company as Manager of Digital Printing from 1993 to 2001.
Here are some comments from Freek’s LinkedIn page: “The print industry can be both rewarding and sometimes, frustrating. Just when we get used to the latest technology or a particular set of economic conditions, something changes. That’s not a bad thing. Embraced in a particular way, change can help us to become better at what we do. As the industry has changed, my unique career path as a print executive has evolved to meet the needs of each new role or project. The various roles I’ve had in book printing through to the print equipment and supply business have given me a broad perspective of the industry, and useful insights into where it’s headed. Print will still inform us, entertain us and stimulate us into action. And, it will continue to play well with other forms of media.”
Freek attended Ryerson University in Toronto where he received his Bachelor of Technology Degree in Graphic Communications Management.
