Packaging and corrugated box printing specialist Cartonek (Sainte-Marie, Quebec), has invested in a Océ ProCut 1600-3XL Digital Flatbed Cutter from Canon Canada. Founded in 1980, the company also provides POP displays to compliment the unique packaging it creates for its customers. This latest equipment update, combined with its existing Océ Arizona Flatbed Printer, will boost profits through increased productivity and application versatility. Océ ProCut devices reduce turnaround times – as jobs are completed in minutes rather than hours compared to manual cutting. It also decreases labour costs because the cutter can be run by just one operator, freeing up workers in the finishing department for other operations. The cutters feature consistent, high-quality, error-free cutting of any display graphic project produced on a large-format digital printer. Océ ProCut even compensates for image or material distortion before cutting. For new business opportunities, the Océ ProCut provides one cutter with several modular tools and can accommodate dozens of materials and hundreds of display graphics applications.
Its Modular Tool system can simultaneously cut and crease a piece of cardboard, or effortlessly transition from routing a piece of Dibond to kiss-cutting a roll of vinyl. The innovative vacuum system automatically adjusts to ensure that materials stay put on the table. Océ ProCut tables are operated by an integrated Océ ProCut workflow software package, which streamlines the complete digital workflow – from prepress to finishing. Cartonek can also reduce turnaround times and cut costs with the Océ Auto Pilot – a Canon EOS overhead camera and software system designed to optimize Océ ProCut digital finishing productivity. With one click, the Océ Auto Pilot system automatically identifies and initiates processing of all cutting jobs – dramatically reducing manual operator intervention.
