Earlier this year, Imprimerie BBM (Laval, Quebec) made a significant investment in its sustainability goals by installing a Kodak Achieve T800 Platesetter and converting to Kodak Sonora XP process-free thermal plates. The Kodak Achieve T800 is a robust CTP device that delivers the known stability of Kodak’s thermal imaging technology in a compact footprint, while consuming up to 70% less power. By combining that with a switch to Kodak Sonora XP process-free thermal plates, Imprimerie BBM completely eliminated plate processing – and also eliminated chemicals in the platemaking process while reducing water consumption and energy costs. Plates go directly from the CTP to the press, eliminating processing variability and resulting in fewer remakes and higher quality on press. Features include a throughput of 2,400 dpi (fora plate size of 1,030 x 800 mm), S Speed of 16 plates per hour and F Speed of 22 plates per hour, and a new Multi-Cassette Unit (MCU) option. The MCU offers automated plate loading and unloading of up to 480 plates, and users can have up to 4 different plate sizes on line for improved efficiency and productivity.
