Komcan installs Komori GL640C Offset Press at Graf-Pak

The innovative technology on their new Komori GL640C will allow Graf-Pak owners Raffi (left) and Gerry Djerrahian to continue growing and improving their folding carton business.

Following an impressive year of multiple offset press installations in 2018, Komcan Incorporated (Georgetown, Ontario), Komori’s exclusive dealer in Canada, has announced the installation of a new Komori GL640C at Graf-Pak of Pointe-Claire, Quebec. Founded in 1995, Graf-Pak specializes in the printing and manufacturing of folding cartons. Owners Gerry and Raffi Djerrahian needed new technology to continue their plan for growth and ongoing improvement. “With Komori’s clear understanding of the folding carton and packaging market, the Komori GL640C is that solution,” said Komcan. “The Djerrahian Brothers certainly put us to the test, and after evaluating all of the other press manufacturers, we’re proud and very pleased to have them as part of the Komcan and Komori Family,” said Brett Rogers of Komcan.
“We needed a machine that would give us very fast make-readies – and the automation levels the GL40 is equipped with, will give us that,” Raffi added. “But it’s important to note that we must not sacrifice long-run productivity either. This press provides a great balance and high performance in both respects.”
Automation and reliability were key factors in the decision, as the Komori GL640C utilizes such state-of-the-art automation features as Fully Automatic Plate Changers, PDC-SX Closed Loop Colour Control, Komori’s Automatic Makeready System (AMR), as well as KHS-AI (Komori’s productivity enhancement system which automatically optimizes various press presets by self-learning).
“Reliability of this investment is key, and we know that Komori engineering and manufacturing, coupled with Komcan service and support, will make for an incredibly high uptime rate,” Gerry added. “It’s clear that with Komori and Komcan, our investment is stable and predictable for the long term.”
