Leading Quebec printer Précigrafik Group (Sherbrooke, Quebec) is rolling out the first HP Indigo 7900 Digital Press in the Canadian market to meet its rapidly changing customer demands. The firm, which has over 70 employees and a strong presence throughout the Quebec market, installed the new digital printing press from HP Inc. to increase its colour print production capacity, reduce operating costs and offer more attractive customized print jobs. Since installing the press earlier this year, Précigrafik has nearly doubled its colour print production capacity, while at the same time increasing the quality it offers to its diverse client base of more than 40,000 small and medium-sized businesses.
“The biggest advantage of our new press is longer colour runs that are both faster and more cost effective,” said Gilles Blais, President. “This allows us to make the best use of our press time and focus on consulting with our customers, building specific products for their needs and helping many of them make their first foray into the digital printing world.” One area of interest from customers, the company said, has been ignited by a growing print renaissance. According to industry observers, physical media such as paperbound books are seeing a significant resurgence throughout the globe as consumers – particularly millennials – retain, use and understand information better when acquired from a physical source. “We’re seeing huge growth of direct-mail materials, such a postcards and brochures in unique and attractive shapes and sizes,” Blais added.
In June, Précigrafik was named as a winner in the Innovation category at the 35th annual Gutenberg Gala in Montreal, which recognizes the best printers in the province. The company earned the top honour thanks to 1,000 personalized, full colour program books that were issued to attendees at a recent Sherbrooke Chamber of Commerce gala. The eye-catching job won the attention of the Gutenberg judges mainly due to the innovative use of colour, design and personalization. “When we offer personalization and custom print capabilities. People are crazy for them and immediately jump on board” said Blais. “It’s a huge opportunity to help our clients reach their communication and marketing objectives. Many of our customers come to us looking to create a traditional brochure and are not fully aware of the speed and customization capabilities digital printing can provide.” Précigrafik is also taking advantage of HP Indigo Electroink technology on the 7900, which has the widest digital colour gamut and features up to seven ink stations. “We have offices throughout the province and also a lot of expertise in different industry verticals such as health care, construction, retail and more,” Blais added.
